How to play Word Recall

Take a moment with Word Recall before moving to another game. Identify new and previously seen words before losing three lives. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Identify new and previously seen words before losing three lives. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Keep the controls in easy reach.

Step by step

  1. Read each displayed word.
  2. Choose New word or Seen before.
  3. Remember words from this round only.
  4. Three mistakes end the round.

Controls

Click or tap one of the two answer buttons. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A useful example

PLANT seen earlier in the same round requires Seen before. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Read the matching step again.

Watch out for this

A word from an earlier round does not count as seen now. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
